information about JOHN PHILIP SOUSA
Dear brothers
I am a member of the Portuguese "Grande Oriente Lusitano" the most important fremason group in Portugal. I am working in an investigation about John Philip Sousa with portuguese ascendents and I know that he has been member of your Lodge, becaming Master, receiving the Sublime Degree of Master Mason on the 18th of November 1881. He was menber of Eureka Chapter n.º 4 and was Knighted in Columbia Commander n.º 2 in 1886. He was initiated as a Noble of the Mystic Shrine in Almas Temple in 1922.
I want to make a prsentation about him, because I have many of his cylinders and 78 rpm that I have being collecting for many years.
I wouls appreciate if you cans end me any kind of information, photos or notes that can give a better quality to my work. I am a Master for some years and have been already in USA presenting a conference in Yale University about portuguese traditional music, my area of investigation and profissional work.
Thank you for all the help you can give me. Cordially, José Moças
